Once again, a book I can't put down. I go from reading ho hum books that are good but I can put them down and get other things done. Not with Mercy Thompson. Only problem is that I have to pace myself because I have to buy them. My library hasn't gotten them all on Kindle.
I can't believe how underrated this series is. Patricia Briggs has created characters that are so believable in a magical world of werwolves, vampires, witches... Yep, the usual often boring and predictable fantasy world. But what sets Mercy Thompson apart is the relationship the characters have with each other and Mercy's intelligence. Sometimes when she's feeling particularly vulnerable she tries to convince herself that leaving her adopted pack and Adam, who at this point in the series seems to be her one true love, so that they will be safe from the forces that want to see her hurt or killed. And in my mind I'm thinking, 'no please don't do such a stupid thing,' or, 'just tell Adam the whole truth and he'll understand.' And then she sorts it out and does the right thing. My only problem with Mercy is that she keeps walking into danger, my problem cuz I'm such a weeny. Well she wouldn't be the heroine if she didn't take on all the troubles now would she.
In this installment Mercy is still recovering from the rape incident and adding to this, Marsallia the vampire leader is out for Mercy's blood. She heads to Seattle to help a friend with a ghost problem which really take a twist near the end, and runs into the most powerful Vampire in that stae. She's really over her head in this one or so it seems.
Once again my favorite thing about this series is that Briggs doesn't see any need for unnecessary foul language or sexual descriptions. There is humor but no idiots. I loved the True Blood series but man there could really be some idiots in there and even though I can handle the sexual situations, if it's too graphic I have to be careful who I refer the books to.

I enjoyed this book even more during this re-read. This is definitely one of my all time favorite series and I honestly believe that everyone who hasn't read these books yet should run to the bookstore right away and buy them up. This is the fourth book in the Mercy Thompson series and it picks up right after the events of the previous book. It is really important that this series be read in order since some of the events are carried over from the previous book. I really had a lot of fun with this audiobook.

On major focus of this Adam and Mercy's relationship. They both really do care for each other and want to make things work. I like how carefully they are with each other. Mercy is a mess after the horrible events of the previous book and Adam is there for her. He really wants to help with her pain and if he could I am sure he would take it away.

The mystery in the story is centered around vampires. I like the vampires in this world so that works out well for me. The local vampires have painted crossed bones on the door at her garage and she decides it would be a good idea to get out of town for a bit. Her friend from college has a little problem with a ghost so Mercy goes to help...and runs into more than she bargained for. Stefan plays a large role in this book and really proved how much he cares for Mercy as well.

I love Lorelei King's narration of this series. I am amazed by how well she voices all of these characters and keeps things consistent from book to book. The emotional aspects of the story really come through during her narration. I was able to listen to this book for hours at a time largely due to her wonderful delivery of this story. Lorelei King is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators.

I would highly recommend this series to other. This was my second time experiencing this book and I hope to read it again in the future. It is really that good.
Cliché I don’t need to really explain this one…was it a typical story that followed very similar storylines that many authors over use?---->1 out of 5, it never is!

Humor Me How funny was the story? The dialog between the characters?---->3 out of 5, this story is not all about humor, but the main characters does have plenty of sarcasm, wit, and attitude that gives this story laughs every chapter.

Sizzle & Burn How romantic was the story? And it is also the scale of how steamy things get between the characters that fall in love.---->3 out of 5, I say this because it isn't all about the relationship rooting between Mercy and Adam. But they are super cute and romantic when they have their moments between the blood baths and bad guys.

Called It! This one is about the mystery behind the crime, situation, or hardship that is going on in the story. Did the author surprise me or did I know who the bad guy/antagonist was all along? ---->1 out of 5, I did not feel, or ever feel, like I have a grasp on what is about to happen with the bad situation that arises. Which is the primary reason why I continue to read her books because she writes in a style that leads readers on a grand adventure that isn't always known ahead of time.

Exciting Extras Did I fall in love with the background characters? How badly did I want to learn or hear more about the story of the main characters friend(s) or family member(s)? ---->4 out of 5, I always want to read more and go on a separate reading trail of her minor characters that she marvelously plots into her stories. Warren is just one of them while Ben is the other.

What! It’s Over! This one is rating how badly I want to read the next book in the series.---->5 out of 5, I have been reading this series without long breaks. I been have the next book in the series in my possession. I love this author and I really advised delving into the world that Briggs has wonderfully created for her audience.
