The book was a very fast read. It is clear and straight to the point. A lot of the stuff is common knowledge if you already work in academia, especially if you are faculty. I found the information interesting (and new) about the types of degrees administrators were getting in Education. The situation that he describes is quite depressing but it is true as far as many universities and students go. A good number of students (other than those at the most elite universities) don't want to learn anything in college and resent being there.Some students do want to learn, but there are some so underprepared that it is a struggle.

It helped me to understand a lot of what is going on behind the scenes. The chapter on accreditation is particularly insightful. Unfortunately, this does not bode well for the next generation of college students or the country. He offers solutions, but I would be surprised if most colleges/universities went in that direction.
Professor doom delivers. He indeed explains the fraud that is much of higher education.
Particularly poignant to me was his discussion of the fraud that is teacher education.
I have taken graduate, yes graduate "education" courses (plural) where every student
expected and received an A ! I have taken graduate level chemistry and math classes.
It would be IMPOSSIBLE to pass any of them with no undergraduate background.
Graduate education courses were a breeze with zero undergrad preparation by me.
It is a good book, very interesting Reading. Should be required before admission to College.
